MDM Trouble Report for 2015 Oct 10 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Alper (Dartmouth) Instrument: Modspec/Templeton Problem(s) Encountered: When I opened, the MIS, TCS, and JSkyCalc were all gone or crashed. Eric diagnosed this as McGraw needing a restart, and he instructed Dan Gifford on how to do so. This was successful, but in doing so (or due to some unknown), we've completely lost our pointing. After numerous HA and Dec homings, nothing had changed. We checked the tilt sensors, and they're on point, or very nearly so. I closed and restarted all of the software and servers to no avail. I noticed that JSkyCalc seems to be reading a different RA and Dec than the TCS, so I tried matching JSkyCalc to it, also to no avail. I spent a few hours hunting and pecking with the paddle (trying to match the Dec discrepancy on the TCS to what we know zenith to be, and then just randomly as well), but was unable to recognize a single star field. Perhaps the TCS needs to be cycled? I'm not sure what else could be the culprit here. I feel especially bad that this happened on our first truly clear night this run - extremely bad luck. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Oct 10 [23:19:56]
