MDM Trouble Report for 2015 Jun 14 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Zinn, J. (OSU) Instrument: OSMOS Problem(s) Encountered: The filenaming convention failed in the same manner as detailed in the last trouble report. Namely, the filenaming gets off and doesn't self-correct: Prospero thinks there is a file already under a certain name, then will correspondingly create a randomly-generated name, even though the file it thinks exists was never created. Example error: WARNING: FITS file '/lhome/data/c_zinn.0271.fits' already exists, writing as '/lhome/data/150612R4.0h3.fits' instead If one looks, however, the normal file ([basename].[####].fits) is written, as is the randomly-generated file -- and they are identical images. The loss of computer control of the telescope occurred again this evening, as well. It appears as though this occurs when one slews the telescope manually for more than a degree with the toggle. The fix seems to be to go to the nearest bright, which somehow restores the TCS. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Jun 15 [5:29:04]
