MDM Trouble Report for 2016 Jan 17 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Alper (Dartmouth) Instrument: Modspec/Echelle Problem(s) Encountered: I'm sorry if this doesn't warrant a full trouble report - it seemed like there were enough small problems for one, though. - The sqeaking on the 2.4 persists. It's definitely coming more from easterly directions, but I get it when paddling either way, especially when we're pointed around the zenith. Nick reports he can hear it from the 1.3 when going to close up for the night. - The telescope decided twice during the night to slew to the east, seemingly at random. This has nothing to do with the guider, which for once worked perfectly fine. The first time it went ~5 arcmin E before I stopped it by killing the guider and slewing back to the target. The second time it went considerably farther, due to the fact that it took a walk the *one* time I decided to take a ten minute nap. Sigh. - Around 2:45 am (when I noticed it) the dome AC computer started flashing: SYSTEM DISABLED -- Sensors appear to be malfunctioning I didn't touch anything in there, other than to turn the mirror AC off (a little late, sorry!) ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Jan 18 [6:42:48]
