MDM Trouble Report for 2016 Jul 08 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Neric (ASU) Instrument: OSMOS Problem(s) Encountered: Believed to have over adjusted pointing at 0600 UTC. Could not get back to nearest bright to fix pointing, and could no longer find my target or any known field. Short fix: Set telescope to zenith, turned off track, and manually slew the telescope watching the tilt rotors to set them to zero. Adjusted RA to LSA+1 reset RA/Dec encoders, and turned track back on. Had to repeat this twice in order to finally find a nearest bright and get back on target. The problem shows up again at shutdown when telescope would not stow to zenith from bad pointing. Declination is currently off of zenith value on TCS. Set UTC was selected in xtcs setup window, to make sure proper UTC was showing. Using zenith declination of 31 57 12 still introduced a visible offset that I could not get rid of. The rotor for controlling declination may not be fully responsive, or perhaps the TCS is reading incorrectly. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Jul 8 [5:37:42]
