MDM Trouble Report for 2016 Nov 19 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Jessica Klusmeyer (MDM) Instrument: OSMOSB4k Problem(s) Encountered: Noticed that dome was not in correct position for the first target Had talked to Eric about the dome issues after opening mirror covers Friday night so immediately followed instructions. Climbed ladder in dome to get dome encoder box, unscrewed connections, wait, and reattached. Reset dome encoders at home to 320. No problems rest of night. Not sure about guiders issue with large rotation angles, this has happened in almost every queue run. Pointing was good and guiding into slit with non rotations worked perfectly. This time was able to adjust observing by moving guide probe while still exposing to several star locations and noting which direction star appeared then adjusting accordingly. Not an issue and after few runs figured out common displacement and able to speed up the process but could see how this could be a problem depending on guide star field/ rotation. In other runs have solved problem by decreasing angle and guider seems to more reliably go to guide star. My error not entire sure how I did this but when checking spectra in osqlsp cleared box for Calib spectrum that John Thorstensen worked so hard to create during my training back in August. Could not remember file name (didn't write it down)and not default setting. Didn't impact observing, just had graph / pixel not wavelength but would like to restore to wavelength ------------------------------ Submitted on 2016 Nov 20 [7:08:55]
