MDM Trouble Report for 2017 Apr 20 Telescope: 1.3m Observer(s): Kay/Moran (Columbia) Instrument: B4K direct Problem(s) Encountered: As noted in the nightly report, we did something wrong when attempting to do an offset in the xtcs gui. Either via a typing error or by clicking the wrong button, I'm not sure, but the telescope moved far west and north. We aborted the move when we realized something was wrong, but after doing this the hour angle and Dec according to the tcs were very inconsistent with the position of the telescope. We made decent guesses about the actual RA and Dec and reset the encoders, then were able to get the telescope to the zenith. Then we recovered pointing using the usual procedure. We did other offsets successfully, so I'm not sure what happened the first time. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Apr 21 [5:18:12]
