MDM Trouble Report for 2017 Nov 05

Problem(s) Encountered:
Encountered repeated  point not converging  errors at the 
beginning of the night. Pointing using the preloaded catalog
coordinates, nor setting the coordinates using the  point 
command worked.

Telescope seemed to point to the requested coordinates in RA but 
not in DEC. Reset telescope then closed and reinitialized TCS
GUI. Neither had any effect. The 2.4 meter observers reset the 
dec motor controller and the pointing still did not respond.
Finally, Eric stopped and restarted all programs and manually
zero'ed the telescope after which pointing was restored.

The rest of the night proceeded without issue, however, when we 
pointed the telescope back to zenith, we again received the  
point not converging  error. The coordinates in TCS were 
relatively close to zenith, off by a few arcminutes in RA but 
pointing correctly in DEC. After visual inspection confirming 
the telescope was roughly pointed correctly to zenith, we 
closed the dome.
