MDM Trouble Report for 2017 Jan 04 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Simonian (OSU) Instrument: OSMOSB4k Problem(s) Encountered: One of the major issues that popped up during the night was that after I would slew to an object, I wouldn't be able to find the chosen guide star in the guider. This is despite there being clear skies. However, a workaround would be to slew to the nearest bright star and then slew back, after which the star would be where it is expected to be. Shortly after, I noticed if I left a star untracked in the guider, it would slowly drift to the left side of the screen, as if the telescope itself was drifting faster than it should. In an effort to reboot the tracking system, I turned off the drives, auto guider, and tracker, and then turned them back on. That did not seem to immediately solve the problem. However, I found that a workaround would be to send the current target's position to the TCS whenever I needed to find the guide star again, and the star would then appear. If the telescope was in motion, such as with the hand paddle, the drifting did not appear to take place. Eventually it stopped. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Jan 5 [7:35:18]
