MDM Trouble Report for 2017 Sep 21 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Kathryn Weil (Dartmouth) Instrument: OSMOS/B Problem(s) Encountered: The guider got stuck early in the night and would not move at all along the y-axis. Despite attempts to move the guider to the center of the field the y-stage kept saying it was at 2.06e10 steps The x-positioning also seemed to be off in relation to where should have been, but the x-axis did go back to zero when sent to the origin. Eric attempted to fix the guider remotely by working with the MIS software but that was unsuccessful. A remote of the MIS computer also did not help solve the problem. Using some guess and check work I was able to find guide stars that were along where ever the guider was stuck and was able to successfully guide for the remainder of the night. Guiding was not as good as previous nights but given the circumstances I was still able to observe. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Sep 22 [6:32:49]
