MDM Trouble Report for 2018 Apr 07 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Hodges-Kluck, Hillig (Michigan) Instrument: OSMOS/B Problem(s) Encountered: The telescope focus slipped over time. For almost all of the night we were pointed at the same target, and the focus value changed from our best initial value of 6350 to either lower or higher values, with a change of about 20 units per half hour. We used the focus button on the hand paddle to correct it every so often. When we slewed back to zenith at the end of the night, the focus changed by 40 units. Without pointing to more targets the nature of the change is not clear. We will keep an eye on it tomorrow. Also, sometimes the dome does not track the telescope or go home when told to do so, but after a manual 'kick' from the hand paddle of several degrees it realizes what it is supposed to do and works fine thereafter. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Apr 8 [6:06:51]
