MDM Trouble Report for 2018 Feb 04 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Douglas, Weaver (Columbia) Instrument: OSMOS/R Problem(s) Encountered: One bizarre minor problem happened in the early part of the evening, when I tried to slew between two targets about 2 hours apart in RA, and the dome moved without the telescope. I sent the coords and clicked slew, whereupon I heard the dome move, but the telescope and next coords didn't change. I went to check, and indeed the dome was sitting at the new position while the telescope hadn't moved. I hit stop, which removed the HA and airmass from next object even though the telescope and next object coords hadn't changed. The dome also started heading back towards the old position (where the scope was). I resent the new coords and then the telescope and dome slewed properly. We also had a combination of pointing and guiding issues on ~5 targets late in the night. The pointing seemed very off for 2-3 targets, while the guide probe seemed to be in the right place (i.e., once we moved the telescope to match the previous guide XY, we were fine). Then the guide probe clearly stopped tracking its position, and we eventually had to quit xmis and power-cycle the MIS. After that guiding and pointing were back on track. Also Prospero crashed at one point and we had to restart it. The dome got stuck at Az~270 at the end of the night, but after we nudged it 5-10 degrees with the paddle it went home on its own. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Feb 5 [6:14:25]
