MDM Trouble Report for 2022 Apr 20 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Alejandro Nunez, Luna Wang (Columbia University) Instrument: OSMOS/B Problem(s) Encountered: After taking cals at the beginning of the night, we attempted to take the 1.2 inner slit out, but didn't realize that the finder was still moving out. We heard a crack sound coming from the telescope and got an error message in the Prospero command window: Error: slit=fault mechanism out-of-position, in-position sensor not asserted . After that, we had to execute slit reset to be able to move the slit again, which it did without further problems. Later on, however, we noticed in our quick reductions that the light peak of the aperture has a wonky tip, instead of a typical conical peak. We suspect it is due to a faulty slit. Perhaps the slit moved out of its correct place, or maybe got bent somewhat. Also, there is a tiny leak at the end of the nitrogen tank hose. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2022 Apr 21 [5:01:44]
