MDM Trouble Report for 2024 Jul 09 Telescope: 2.4m Observer(s): Anderson (MDM) Instrument: OSMOS Problem(s) Encountered: RA jump towards the end of the night. Not sure timing has much to do with it as I was using the same exposure length of 600 secs most of the night. This RA jump was repeatable and happened three straight times as I was testing it to see if it was a creep or a jump. RA was holding steady and then all of a sudden I would lose guiding and see the RA jumped by an arcsecond. To ascertain tracking again, I needed to use the paddle to go west. Hopefully this is not indicative of a bigger issue since the encoder was just replaced. This may have happened last night as well, but since clouds were present I may have assumed that is what caused the guider to lose the star. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2024 Jul 10 [5:19:39]
