Problem(s) Encountered:

The telescope stopped responding to the paddle (N/S directions only). E/W worked fine, but N/S there was no response. Tried with the single direction, direction+set and nothing worked. Eventually tried direction+slew and the telescope moved. That seemed to correct the problem, but that was an alarming issue.

Solutions:

I have seen this happen occasionally, but it almost always corrects itself within a matter of seconds.  Worse case scenario, stow the telescope and reboot the TCS (http://mdm.kpno.noao.edu/index/Hiltner_2.4m_files/TCS_reboot.pdf) should resolve the issue.
