Ensure brakes are OFF

Problem(s) Encountered:

Forgot to turn the brakes off after bringing all the systems back up from lightning shutdown a couple days prior. Ended up blowing the drive motor fuse on the MDC.  Eric was able to walk me through replacing that and was able to get going before twilight ended.

Solution:

Normally there is no need to use the telescope brakes.  However, any time the MDC (Motor Driver Chassis) is cycled, the brakes automatically turn ON.  “BRAKES ON” is indicated in a status window on the TCS GUI.  Always be sure to disengage the brakes before attempting to move the telescope (from the same popup window used to cycle mirror covers).  If the brakes have been cycled, you may notice some squealing when the telescope is moving at slew speeds, particularly in declination.  This is normal.  Advanced users can bang on the brake calipers to get them to release more fully from the disk.
