Lightning Precautions & Procedures

Storms at a facility on top of a mountain are to be taken seriously.  Weather can change in a flash, literally.  Safety to the observer requires the obvious precaution of staying indoors.  Safety to equipment is a little less obvious.  It should be stressed that lightning can take out equipment instantly, so it is paramount that you peruse the lightning shutdown procedures associated with your telescope before observing.  While storms are most likely during the summer monsoon season, they could happen at any time.
